Blue Blooms: A Botanical Cyanotype Workshop | September 26th
Come spend a fall afternoon making art with flowers and sunlight! In this workshop, we’ll explore cyanotype printing, a simple photographic process that transforms the shapes and details of flowers into rich blue botanical artwork.
You’ll begin with a few smaller sheets so you can play around with different flowers, layouts, and layering techniques. Then, you’ll use what you’ve learned to create a larger 8×10 print to frame and take home.
We’ll walk through the entire process together—from choosing and arranging your botanicals to exposing, rinsing, and revealing your finished prints. It’s a little bit of art, a little bit of science, and so much fun to watch come together!
No artistic experience is needed. Every print will turn out differently, and that’s part of what makes cyanotype so beautiful.
Your ticket includes:
One 8×10 cyanotype print
An 8×10 frame for displaying your finished piece
Two smaller sheets for experimenting and creating additional prints
Fresh, farm-grown flowers and foliage
Use of all tools and workshop supplies
Instruction and help throughout the entire process
Snacks provided by Ilar Homestead
Seasonal beverages
Workshop Details:
📍 South Charleston Farmers Market
📅 Saturday, September 26, 2026
⏰ 4:00–6:00 PM
$60 per person
A Few Things to Know Before You Book
A ticket is required for each person participating.
This workshop is open to adults and kids ages 12 and older. All kids attending will need their own ticket.
Please let us know about any food allergies or dietary needs when booking, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
At least five guests must be registered for the workshop to take place. If we don’t reach the minimum, we’ll contact you ahead of time with your options.
We’ll create rain or shine! In case of bad weather, we’ll work under our enclosed tent or move beneath the pavilion.
Tickets are non-refundable. With prior approval, the cost of your ticket may be transferred to another workshop. Please email hello@muddymountainflowers.com.
The flowers and foliage available will depend on what’s growing on the farm at the time.
📸 We may take photos during the workshop to share in future Muddy Mountain Flower Farm marketing.
