Dig, Divide & Store: An End-of-Season Dahlia Workshop | October 25
Dig, Divide & Store: An End-of-Season Dahlia Workshop
Growing beautiful dahlias doesn’t end when the flowers stop blooming! Join us at Muddy Mountain Flower Farm for a hands-on afternoon learning how to dig, divide, and store dahlia tubers for winter.
We’ll begin in the field by digging and cleaning tuber clumps, then walk through the dividing process together. You’ll learn what to look for when separating tubers, how to avoid common mistakes, and the best ways to store them until it’s time to plant again in the spring.
This workshop is perfect for newer dahlia growers or anyone who wants to feel more confident handling their own tubers at the end of the season. No previous experience is needed—just come ready to learn and get a little dirty!
What you’ll learn:
How to safely dig and clean dahlia tuber clumps
How to identify viable tubers and eyes
Step-by-step techniques for dividing a clump
Tips for labeling and organizing your varieties
Winter storage methods to help prevent rot, mold, and excessive drying
How to prepare your tubers for planting next spring
Your ticket includes:
Hands-on instruction and guidance
Educational materials on dahlia care
A divided clump of dahlia tubers to take home
A storage bin for your tubers
Gloves and snips
All additional tools and materials needed
Light refreshments
